HTC surprised us a little when it decided not to announce its next flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2018, in Barcelona, in fact, HTC is yet to set a date for the launch of HTC U12, which some rumours say it might go on sale under U12+ marketing name. Meanwhile HTC launched the Desire 12 and Desire 12+ phones recently.
Until HTC figures out on which date to hold a press event its 2018 flagship smartphone has been outed again, this time around in a complete photo gallery. The images were spotted in an HTC U12 screen protector listing on Yahoo Taiwan’s website.
The images are pretty revealing, confirming a dual main camera setup at the back with a dual-tone LED Flash, and a fingerprint sensor positioned right under it. At the front there is a 6-inch WQHD LCD 6 display with 18:9 aspect ratio and, surprise, there is no notch (flawless water-resistant glass design – IP68). We expect it to feature Edge Sense technology on both sides (pressure sensitive sensors), dual front-facing selfie camera, unless it’s a face recognition setup that works as a selfie snapper. too.
Inside HTC U12 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 CPU. The rumour has it that HTC will sell the handset with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of ROM (internal storage), a 3,420 mAh battery and dual stereo speakers.
HTC U12 runs Android 8.1 Oreo with the latest HTC Sense UI on top of it, which includes HTC Companion (A.I. based virtual assistant).
HTC is expected to launch the U12 by the end of April, with sales starting in early May.
