In a press event which just ended minutes ago in Paris, France, Huawei Mobile announced the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro smartphones with wait for it, a notch, of course. However, Huawei’s CMO mister Richard YU says the phones are more powerful than Apple’s iPhone X and Samsung’s Galaxy S9 in more categories than one: CPU performance, battery life, camera, and they offer more screen to body ratio than both competitors.
Huawei P20 and P20 Pro officially announced
The Huawei P20 and P20 Pro both feature Huawei’s Kirin 970 with NPU (neural processing unit) for artificial intelligence, tech embedded in almost all of the hardware inside these phones to help optimize the camera performance, the battery performance and so on. Both phones run Android 8.1 Oreo with EMIUI v8.1 on top of it and come with 128GB internal storage.
The difference between the two devices are at the screen size and panel technology: P20 comes with a 5.8-inch TFT FullView display with 2,240 x 1,080 px screen resolution, while the P20 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch OLED FullView display with the same screen resolution. The standard model has only 4GB of RAM, the Pro model has 6GB of RAM. And the differences continue with the camera setup at the back: P20 comes with a dual LEICA camera sensors setup comprised of 12MP RGB + 20MP B/W with f/1.6 aperture; the P20 Pro has a triple LEICA camera setup at the back comprised of 40MP + 20MP + 8MP sensors which is the best camera in a smartphone ever according to DxOMark 102 score (3 points more than the S9; Google Pixel 2 XL scored 98 points).
Huawei will begin selling the P20 as of today, March 27, starting at 650 Euros, while the P20 Pro will go on sale on April 6, and it will set you back 900 Euros. Both phones are will be available in four colours: Graphite Black, Midnight Blue, Pink Gold and Twilight (probably the best colour choice of all).
