Asus tests for quite some time the possibility of upgrading its ZenFone smartphone series to Marshmallow, and it finally came out with an approximate date for this rollout.

According to a post announcement made on the official ZenTalk forums, about a dozen of ZenFone smartphones will receive the upgrade to Android 6.0 as of the second quarter of 2016. Below find the full list of Asus devices according to their name and model number:

  • PadFone S (PF500KL)
  • ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
  • ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
  • ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
  • ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)

Beside making the jump to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, all of the above will also receive Google Messenger, Calendar and Gmail, native Android apps which will replace Asus ZenUI apps such as: Asus Messenger, Asus Calendar and Asus Mail, probably because Google requested it through its Android licensing deal.
