Samsung continues to amaze the world of technology with its innovations!

Over the weekend the Korean OEM announced on stage at Mobile World Congress its latest flagship smartphones in the Galaxy S series – Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge – which are now more polished and more powerful than ever, especially if we compare them to last year’s Galaxy S6 series.

The keyword which surrounded Samsung Mobile Unpacked event was Virtual Reality, hence the surprising appearance of Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder, on Samsung’s stage in Barcelona, who spoke about Samsung OLED displays currently being “the only ones that can deliver a good and comfortable VR experience thanks to their low persistence rendering capability,”  and coupled with Facebook Oculus VR software, the Galaxy S7 phone offer the best mobile VR experience today.

“We believe in a world that is brighter, sharper, more convenient, and more fun. We strive to deliver on that vision with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by marrying elegant design with functionality and providing a seamless mobile experience,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “We empower consumers with technology to help them get more out of life and will continue to push the frontier of what’s possible.”

In terms of specs Samsung equipped both phones with 2K AMOLED screens (5.1″, 5.5″ on the edge variant), with Qualcom’s Snapdagon 820 processor (in some regions will be replaced by Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 chip), 4GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of built-in storage and there’s also the possibility to add a microSD card in the hybrid SIM tray for up to 200GB extra storage. Both devices are water resistant to 1.5m deep for 30 minutes, they sport 5 and 12MP cameras (the bulky camera is gone on the new devices) and are both equipped with non-removable batteries 3,000 (S7),  3,600 mAh (S7 edge). There is also a neat mobile cooling system that Samsung borrowed from NASA’s rockets to keep the handsets at a optimum temperature.

As of today, February 22, Samsung is accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in Europe, Asia and the US, but only customers in key markets (countries) can place an order for now. The phones are available in Gold, Silver, White and Black color and have a price tag of 699$, 799$ for the edge model.
