LG announces X cam and X screen Android smartphones

In some weird fashion LG Electronics has this morning unveiled a couple of new mid-range devices dubbed X cam and X screen, that the company says are offering “key premium features without the premium price.” These X series smartphones are specially designed for those “customers who do not want or need all the bells and whistles that come with today’s high-end phones but still desire a great camera or advanced display.”

LG announces X cam and X screen Android smartphones

“Everyone has a favorite smartphone feature,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “At LG, we think there’s room for devices that do one thing very well and that customers shouldn’t have to pay for features that they don’t want. At the end of the day, we’re committed to offering consumers more choices.”

The Camera oriented model, the LG X Cam, comes with dual cameras on the back and thus it should be delivering one of the most advanced camera experiences a mass-tier smartphone can offer nowadays. Equipped with what LG calls 3D Bending Glass, the X cam features an elegant curved finish at the front doubled by the ultra-thin profile of only 5.2mm, the smartphone is very comfortable to use with only one hand as it weighs in at only 118 grams.

The X screen handset on the other hand, it comes equipped with an Always-On second screen like the one we’ve seen on the high-end LG V10 smartphone. Remember that these are mid-ranges phones. The Second Screen sits above the main 4.93-inch HD In-cell Touch display and makes multi-tasking easy on the X screen. Measuring only 1.76 inches, the second screen allows one to easily access most frequently used apps, answer phone calls without interruption or just play music. This secondary screen also lets owners of the phone to checkime, the date, battery status and other notifications without ever having to turn on the phone. What’s more, the X screen offers a stylish, sleek look with its crystal-clear glass fiber exterior and clean lines.

Both X series smartphones will go on sale in key markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America as of next month, but for those who are in Barcelona next week (February 22-25), will have access to try them out at LG’s booth in Hall 3 of Fira Gran Via.

No word on their pricing yet, but we will keep you up to date on this topic as soon as LG reveals their price tag.
