Marshmallow update coming to Xperia Z5 series and the Xperia Z3+ soon, according to an allegedly leaked document from Sony.
When it comes to Android software updates, smartphone manufacturers are always delivering late, but this could change, at least for some handset owners, as Google and some of the top OEM’s have agreed that it is utmost important to release monthly security updates / patches for vulnerabilities, and thus, avoid credit card and other private data theft from smartphones and tablets.
Sony is one of these OEM’s that have finally understood the importance of periodical firmware upgrades. The company is soon to start a major Android 6.0 roll out to customers who own an Xperia Z5 series device (Z5, Z5 compact, Z5 Premium) or the Xperia Z3+ / Xperia Z4.
While the upgrade to Marshmallow for Xperia Z5 users might start soon, as the tests are finalized according to JustAboutPhones blog, Xperia Z3+/Z4 users will probably have to wait a little longer. Please note that, usually, such upgrades are ment for those who own an unlocked device (carrier free), while the rest of them, depend on their local carrier reaction and approval of the software, before being released.
Did you, by any chance, captured a OTA software update notification and installed the latest firmware, which brings Marshmallow on one of the above mentioned models? Then, please let us know in the comments below, how the software behaves.
