More news from CES 2016, and again from Chinese Manufacturer Huawei. This time, it’s a new Huawei MediaPad M2, which will blow you away with it’s ‘sound’ performance.
Huawei MediaPad M2 announced at CES 2016:
During their press conference at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Huawei didn’t disappoint fans with the release of a new tablet aimed at the audiophile.
The Huawei MediaPad M2 is a 10.1″ tablet which boasts not one, not two, but four Harmon/Kardon speakers built in to the thin device. The top two will handle treble, whilst the bottom two will handle base. If you know about audio equipment, then you’ll know that Harmon/Kardon are top of the range speakers, often found in high-end sports cars and saloons. To add weight behind the high end speakers, Clari-Fi upscaling technology will also improve the audio from your device (similar to the HTC One A9 we reviewed last year).
The 10.1″ screen has a resolution of 1920×1200, 16.1 aspect ratio, but a slightly disappointing 226ppi pixel density. I guess those four speakers take up a lot of room.
Otherwise, the device will be available in two configurations: 2GB of RAM with 16GB storage, and 3GB of RAM with 64GB storage. Both of these, will in turn, be available in WiFi only and WiFi/LTE variants.
Either way, the Huawei MediaPad M2 will be come with a 13MP main camera and 5MP rear camera. The front of the device will also sport Huawei’s very popular and accurate fingerprint sensor.
In addition to the Huawei MediaPad M2, Huawei also announced the M-Pen, a tablet pen designed to make drawing and writing on the device easier than ever and similar to offerings from Apple and Microsoft. It’s not clear if the M-Pen will be a passive pen or an active pen, but Huawei state that it has 2048 pressure points and offers a “pen-like writing experience”.
There are no details as to a release date, but prices are said to be the following (for the American Market):
- 2GB RAM/16GB Storage, WiFi only: $349
- 2GB RAM/16GB Storage, WiFi+LTE: $399
- 3GB RAM/64GB Storage, WiFi Only: $419
- 3GB RAM/64GB Storage, WiFi+LTE: $469
The good news is, although these prices are only given in dollars, the UK and EU will be among the first wave of releases when the device launches.
