Android 5.1 update roadmap published by French carrier SFR. A lot of Sony and Samsung devices to receive the latest firmware this August.
Even though we are in 2015, and mobile makers and telecom operators alike, are aware of the major security problem the delayed software updates may pose, they dont seem to be bothered that much if you’re private data or credit card info is stolen from your device due to potential unpatched vulnerabilities.
On this note, French carrier – SFR has just released a roadmap in which confirms that Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware upgrades are coming this August to a plethora of Sony Xperia and Samsung Galaxy phones.
On the list we see the 2014 flagship phone from Samsung, the Galaxy S5 (firmware update date not confirmed yet), the 2015 flagship phones – Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge (August), and handful of Sony Xperia phones: Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 compact, Xperia Z Ultra all schedule for August, while the Xperia Z, Xperia Tablet Z are schedule for September and the Xperia M2 is yet to be decided when Android 5.1 arrives.
SFR kind of confirms what Samsung and Sony devices will likely receive Android 5.1 in Europe, sometime between August and October, 2015.
