It’s once again time to review the monthly Android version figures from Google which updated the numbers collected during a 7-day period ending on May 4th, 2015. Android Lollipop (5.0 – 5.1) is still steadily gaining momentum and is currently sitting at 9.7%, up from last month’s 5%.
Android KitKat, the most used version to date, lost 1.6% since last month while all Jelly Bean variants account for 39.3% of the pie. Legacy versions such as Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread and the long forgotten Froyo only represent 11.3% of total devices but this number will likely dip below the 10 percent mark in the coming months.
The two versions of Android Lollipop will see a sharp increase as device updates are rolled out while more OEMs release newer gadgets with Android 5.x onboard.
