Samsung make a wide range of phones, from high-end flagships like their Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 4 to low-end phones such as the Samsung Young. In their mid-range, rejuvenated last year with the introduction of the Samsung A range of phones. Now, details of the Samsung Galaxy A8 have leaked.
Samsung Galaxy A8 (SM-A800F) details leaked:
Details of the Samsung Galaxy A8 have leaked and expand on what the Korean company are doing with their mid-range phones.
The Galaxy A8 SM-A800F is said to run a 64 bit Octo-Core Snapdragon 615 processor, with 2 GB or RAM and 16 GB of storage. There is also claimed to be a 16 MP camera on the rear, the first of the non-flagship phones to have one, and a 5 MP camera on the front. The screen will be a 5.7 inch Full-HD Super AMOLED display. Powering all of this hardware is a 3050 mAh battery in a metal shell still only 5.9 mm thick.
It’s also believed that the Samsung A8 will come running Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and sport Samsung’s new TouchWiz UI.
The downside to all of this (at the time of writing) is that the Samsung Galaxy A8 is destined to sell on the Chinese market only. We say “at the time of writing” because it’s possible that will change in the future. It’s also possible that the Samsung A8 will be called something else in foreign markets. We reported recently that they had patented the names Samsung A6, A8 and A9, so maybe an American or European version will take on one of these new names.
To date, no word has been given on price or timeline, so there is still scope for details to change. We’d certainly like to see a version of the Samsung Galaxy A8 arrive on our desk to test out, but that is down to Samsung. Keep your fingers crossed.
