A little over a year ago Silent Circle was announcing the BlackPhone, a privacy-centered smartphone, which offers enhanced security and encryption to users. Following in the footsteps of its first generation smartphone, the company benhind this project announced this week at Mobile World Congress, Blackphone 2 and a brand new and super secure tablet with an awkward name, Blackphone+ tablet.
The Blackphone 2 comes with better specs (obviously) and new software. Blackphone 2 feature a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, packs a 64-bit octa-core processor, theres 3GB of RAM and 3,060 mAh battery.
Blackphone 2 will be available in the second half of 2015 for $650, while the Blackphone+ tablet has no details, just “later in the year.”
Going to the software side of things, Silent Circle announced an important update to PrivateOS v1.1, which brings Spaces, separate user profiles on the phone for extended privacy and Silent Meeting, an application for secure conference calls, but you’ll still have to be careful from an eavesdropper.
