ZTE Corp came this year at Mobile World Congress 2015, in Barcelona, with quite the premier for the mobile industry. The Chinese OEM introduced the ZTE Grand S3, a smartphone that uses eye-based biometric scanning technology from EyeVerify, as a solution to unlock the phone.
Iris scanner called Eyeprint ID, allows users a password-free method to unlock the ZTE Grand S3, by offering “an enhanced level of privacy and security to the device.” ZTE Grand S3 is one of the first smartphones in the world to offer such technology.
“We are delighted to announce our partnership with EyeVerify that brings their leading Eyeprint ID™ solution to the ZTE Grand S3,” said Adam ZENG Xuezhong, Executive Vice President of ZTE Corporation and CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices. “Our ZTE Grand series of smartphones is focused on offering the most secure devices in the market for business users worldwide. Coupled with EyeVerify’s leading solution, the ZTE Grand S3 represents an unbeatable option for smartphone privacy.”
The cutting-edge technology works by imaging unique vein patterns within the human eye, using the Grand S3’s front facing camera.
The ZTE Grand S3 with its Eyeprint ID, is already available for purchase online in China for 2999 CNY, about 430 Euros.
