Asus to launch a smaller ZenFone 2 ZE500CL very soon.

At the beginning of 2015 at Consumer Electronics Show, Asus revealed to the public its 5.5-inch ZenFone 2, worlds smartphone to feature 4GB of RAM under the hood.

At Mobile World Congress on March 1st, the Taiwan-based company is ready to unveil another variant of the ZenFone 2, one slightly smaller with downgraded specs, which will make it more affordable.

So, the 5-inch ZenFone 2 ZE500CL model will obviously feature a 5″ display, but rather an HD screen (1280 x 720 pixels) instead of a Full HD one seen on the 5.5-inch variant. Otherwise, the screen comes with a protective sheet of Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it from Corning.

Other specs include an Intel Cloverfield Trail+ chipset (Intel Atom Z2560 1.6Ghz processor), 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM, a 2,500 mAh battery, 16GB of built-in storage (microSD slot for up to 64GB), 8MP camera on the back, 2MP in the front, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with ZenUI on top, as for measurements, the ZenFone 2 ZE500CL is 10.9mm thick and weighs 155 grams.

No word on ZenFone 2 ZE500CL pricing or regions availability just yet, but we will surely see it exhibited during MWC alongside the ZenPad and the FonePad FE375CL, Asus’s first Android 5.0 running tablet.
