LG announces G Watch R.
LG launched its first smart watch running Android wear a few months back called the G Watch. While the G Watch was indeed something different considering the offerings from Samsung (Gear line) and Sony, it didn’t quite capture the public’s attention the way another smartwatch, the Moto 360, which hasn’t been released yet, has.
So LG decided to give it another shot and seems to have definitely come up with something pretty awesome.Introducing the G Watch R,which will be unveiled at IFA next week.According to LG, G Watch R is the world’s first watch-style wearable device to feature a circular P-OLED (Plastic OLED) display and utilizes 100 percent of its watch face.
LG goes on to say that the LG G Watch R,even under bright sunlight still showcases superb clarity when viewed from any angle. Looking at the photos of the LG G Watch R,the device definitely would pass as a normal analog watch. The LG G Watch R has a stainless steel frame in which the 1.3-inch Plastic OLED panel rests in.The smart watch also has interchangeable calf skin leather straps.
Specifications wise, the LG G Watch R features a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor,512 MB of RAM,4 GB of internal storage,a 410mAh battery to boot. The LG G Watch R is also Dust and Water Resistant (IP67) which enables it to work in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The smartwatch also has a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor which is basically a fancy word for heart rate sensor.Health and fitness apps will also be included to take advantage of the sensor.
LG G Watch R apparently will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2014. Price hasn’t been mentioned as yet, but we are looking at a $300 to $350 / £180 – £210 gadget.
