Motorola filled a trademark for a new device on July 22, named Moto Maxx. This name will probably be reserved for Motorola’s new phablet, while Moto X+1 will be the flagship phone of the series, but it could turn out to be something else as well.
At this point, we don’t know anything about this device. One speculation is that it may be the new Nexus by Motorola, but that sounds unlikely because the ‘Nexus’ keyword is nowhere to be found in the trademark. Judging by the name, the Moto Maxx should continue the tradition of large batteries. We expect its battery life to blow everything currently available off the water, but that’s just us.
If it’s the rumored Moto Nexus, this device should pack a 5.9-inch display, and thus fall into the phablet category, but it could also be the dawn of a new era, one without LucasArts Studio’s “Droid” branding. Is Motorola moving the Droid series under the “Moto” branding?
We hope Motorola says something about this device soon, as we are eager to find out more. We bet you are too!
