The HTC One (M8) is receiving another slew of Android firmware updates, the unlocked international variant of the popular handset is actively being updated to Android 4.4.3 in select European regions. This follows HTC’s rollout of the update in the U.S.
The firmware dubbed build 2.22.401.4 clocks in at around 613MB, aide from the usual update HTC apps, the new build also features a number of security fixes from AOSP such as CVE-2014-0224 and incorporates number of other fixes/commits from Android 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 (mr2.1) which were subsequently merged into HTC’s sources. Strangely enough, HTC opted to retain the 4.4.3 moniker instead of bumping the version number to 4.4.4.
The update also brings some minor bug fixes under the the hood, mostly with regards to WiFi performance, Bluetooth and network connectivity. Some of HTC’s proprietary apps also got updated, those include the Camera, Gallery, Settings and HTC Sync Manager. The ‘HTC Sense’ experience has also been improved with several feature such as Boomsound, Extreme power saving, Motion launch and Quick settings being optimized.
Most users in Europe should be getting the new bits via OTA in a matter of days.
