Just hours before it was due to launch, it appears the Xiaomi Mi-4 leaked in images showing a faux metal casing.
Xiaomi Mi-4 Leaked with faux metal casing:
We recently reported how well Xiaomi (a Chinese maker with millions of customers in the Asian and Pacific markets) was celebrating their succesess of their current flagship, the Xiaomi Mi-3. Now, just 24 hours prior to the next flagship launched, the Xiaomi Mi-4 was leaked on Chinese social network Senai Weibo in pictures which look to have a metal casing. However, Xiaomi CEO Li Wanqiang confirmed that in fact the Xiaomi Mi-4 would have a faux metal case made of plastic. This mirrors LG’s look of the LG G3 which had a brushed metal casing, but was actually made of plastic. Li Wanqiang insisted however, that the Xiami Mi-4 was extensively made of metal inside.
Reported specs of the Xiaomi Mi-4 are said to be something similar to a Snapdragon 801 or 805 SoC with 3GB of RAM, a screen in the region of 5-5.5 inches with resolutions of 1440×2560 (although some reports say a plain 1080p screen). Camera’s will be something close to 13MP on the rear and 5MP on the front with a battery close to 3000mAh. All these would be on par with any other flagship phone on the market such as the HTC One M8, the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the LG G3.
The Xiaomi Mi-4 is due to be launched on 22 June, so we won’t have to wait too much longer to see how accurate the rumours were, or if this photo is the real thing or not. Who knows, Xiaomi may still surprise us all with an actual metal casing to their new Xiaomi Mi-4 and make us all look rather silly.
Would you buy a Xiaomi Mi-4 if it were available in Europe?
