Recent reports and rumours have all been indicating that Google would seek to end the Nexus program and the lack of an official statements eventually ushered all sorts of wild conclusions from tech pundits around the web.
Today marks the end of all this, Dave Burke, Android’s engineering head has slammed those rumours. Burke denied those claims but declined commenting on the possibility of Android Silver.
People have been commenting about Nexus because there is something else and they think that means the end of Nexus. That is the totally wrong conclusion to make.
He confirmed that the Nexus program is here to stay regardless of Android Silver being introduced or not, he eventually added that a new Nexus smartphone will be released alongside Android ‘L’ later this year.
“People just get excited by concepts and forget why we do things,” Burke told me in an interview. “We are still invested in Nexus.
This pretty much reaffirms Google’s commitment to the Nexus program so stay tuned for some new Nexus hardware!
