Huawei announced their new device in the western market,the Ascend Mate 2 (aka the Ascend Mate 2 4G). It is a large device by most standards,featuring a 6.1-inch display. If you’re looking for a device with a large display real estate,then this might be the device for you.It is to an extent unique in its own right,and at its cost,will definitely be a device to consider buying.

For such a large display,the device has a small amount of bezel,which also incorporates the front facing camera,OEM logo, and the earpiece.The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G features a 6.1-inch display running at 720p. It’s covered with Gorilla Glass 3 and also has a screen protector right out of the box to protect its large display.The front facing camera has a 5 Megapixel camera specialized for  group photos or what Huawei call “Groufies” (group selfies).On the back there’s a 13-megapixel camera with a Sony BSI sensor.


The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean,a bit outdated yes but will probably be updated to Kit-Kat.The Mate 2 also features Emotion UI 2.0 Lite,which is Huawei’s own customized skin which runs on top android.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 if you can recall was praised for its extended battery life,even to an extent being used to charge other phones.This probably might be possible on the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G as well,which sports a  3900mAh non-removable battery.Other specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 under the hood backed up by 2GB of RAM.16GB of storage and a Micro-SD card slot for up-to 32GB. Wi-fi802.11a/b/g/n/ac, GSM 4G LTE Cat4 and HSPA+, and Bluetooth 4.0 are all featured as well.


Huawei’s press release doesn’t say exactly when the Ascend Mate 2 will be available,but of note is that the per-order bonuses end on 22nd June.As for the price,it goes for $299.99 on the Huawei website.
