Information for a new Samsung tablet has been published by the Chinese site Tenaa. Namely, it’s the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 the device we’re talking about, a high-end offering in the mid-sized tablet segment.
The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 packs a 8.38-inch display as its name suggests, one with a resolution of whopping 2560×1600 pixels. It’s a Super AMOLED panel, so you can be sure it will have eye-popping colors and great efficiency. Moreover, it runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, most probably with Samsung’s Magazine UX. It packs a 1.9GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor, coupled with 3GB RAM. The built-in memory is not known at this point, but one thing we do know is the Tab S 8.4 supports microSD cards of up to 64GB, so that’s a big plus. It has two cameras that support 1080p video recording, but their resolutions are not known.
As it could be seen on the picture, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 provides hardware navigation controls and looks a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S5. The white color version is for sure, with a possibility for a few color flavors more.
The price of this device is expected to be north of $350, given the fact it’s a premium tablet. But anyway, this could make strong competition for the iPad Mini 2 and the other Android tablets, including the new slates from LG.
