HTC One E8 announced 90% less metal

One E8

You may have read a few rumours of a HTC One Ace Vogue buried beneath news of the “M8 Prime” well it’s dropped the long-winded name and become official as the “HTC One E8. The front of the device is very similar to the design of the One M8, it’s more premium brother, but has a plastic uni body instead of aluminium.

The One E8 has a thicker body at 9.9mm versus the M8’s 9.4mm but the plastic version is lighter at 145 grams opposed to the M8’s 160.

The internal specs measure up pretty similar to the One M8’s. HTC One E8 has a Snapdragon 801 chipset running the show with either a 2.3 GHz or a 2.5GHz CPU backed along by 2GB of RAM. There’s also 16GB of on-board storage which is expandable via the microSD slot up to 128GB.

Round the back of the One E8 is a 13 megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture and an just a single LED flash, unlike the M8 which has a dual tone flash. Round the front of the device is the same 5 megapixel “selfie” cam which is found on the One M8 and the One Mini 2.

The One E8 has a dual nano sim card slot, something else that differentiates it from the M8. The global roll out of the E8 is uncertain, with it set to launch in select markets from this month. As always we’ll let you know any further information as it comes to us.
