This week marked the beginning of Computex 2014,an event where many OEMs will showcase their latest offerings to the consumer market. This afternoon Asus took to the stage to unveil an array of new gadgets, namely the new-generation ASUS MeMO Pad, the ASUS Fonepad and the Transformer Pad Series. As for now lets see what the new generation Fonepad lineup has to offer.
Asus’s CEO Jonney Shen took to the stage to introduce the new devices, the Fonepad 8 and the all new 2014 Fonepad 7,not to be confused with the last year’s Fonepad 7. Both have enabled 3G connectivity and what is turning out to be a norm these days, dual SIM card slots. The really emphasised pitch in the introduction of both these devices is about their processor. Both are run by a 64-bit Intel Atom 1.8GHz quad-core Z3560 processor.

Both devices have 1280 x 800 IPS displays, with the 8 inch variant said to have a 72.2% screen-to-body ratio for a larger display area, although it almost has the same width as the previous generation 7-inch Fonepad. The 7 inch Fonepad is only 10.9cm wide, and the Fonepad 8 at 12cm coupled with a narrow 5.06mm bezel design.
Camera? Both have 5 megapixel shooters on the back and for the selfie enthusiasts (cue the chainsmokers selfie song) a 2 megapixel camera on the front. Both have ASUS SonicMaster audio with dual front speakers, and will be available in black, white, gold and red.
