Samsung is apparently looking forward to deliver more Gear smartwatches based on its Tizen OS, this time with a different design approach that is reminiscent of the Motorola Moto 360.
The South Korean giant being one of major players in the wearable device business with a total share of 23% but all seems that the company wants to differentiate its products by simplifying the way the user navigates around with the Gear device.
It’s quite obvious that upcoming Gear smartwatch will feature a circular UI and support for hand gestures and even be worn around the neck, stored in a pocket or on a keychain. Patent fillings also suggests that Samsung is planning optical character recognition and translation, barcode/image scanning and interact with remote controls for devices around your house.
Various sensors will also track the user’s health although the mockups don’t reveal much. This whole concept may just be a R&D project for the time being but it’ll be interesting to see if any of Samsung’s smartphone sport those features.
