LG G3 officially announced

The time has finally come, LG’s live launch event for their G3 is still underway, but they’ve officially announced the successor to the popular G2 from 2013.

The G3 is one of the most anticipated phones of 2014 and will go head to head with some hugely popular smartphones like the HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Sony Xperia Z2. The G3 has a couple of tricks up its sleeve in the way of specs.

LG has simultaneous live events going from London, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul to really push home that this is a global smartphone.

We’ve pretty much seen all of the G3’s specs before in a series of leaks and videos but that doesn’t make them any less impressive. LG’s 2014 flagship will have a 5.5 inch qHD display with a massive 531 pixels per inch, that’s a resolution of 2560 x 1440, that’s a huge step up from most of the competition who are offering 1080p displays. Under the G3’s hood is a Snapdragon 801 chip clocked at 2.5 GHz, with a quad-core CPU and helped along by 3GB of RAM.

Round the back of the LG G3 is an impressive 13 megapixel snapper with Optical Image Stabilization(OIS) and a Laser auto focus, which LG are calling revolutionary.

LG’s G3 is also rocking a new metallic skin on the back, which is fingerprint-proof and also apparently very light wright, with the whole phone weighing in at 149 grams.

The G3 is powered by a 3,000 MAh battery which is the same size as the G2’s, but is removable this time. Out the box it will be running Android KitKat 4.2 and have a plethora of new LG software s
