You probably saw the internet making a bit of a fuss over another Chinese brand’s device over the past few days, the OnePlus One. Well, now it’s the turn of another Chinese name; Vivo who have been handing out invites to various Chinese tech sites, regarding an international launch event for their new camera orientated smartphone the xShot.
The location of the launch event is symbolic of another international event, as it is being hosted at Water Cube Arena in Beijing, which was one of the arenas used during the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
The invitation features a line which has been translated into English as “camera-oriented smartphone flagship starts from heart”. this has led many to believe that the xShot will be a camera orientated device, perhaps with a large megapixel count or high quality lens.
A few days ago we had an insight into the xShot’s performance as an AnTuTu benchmark leaked out, with the xShot being the first smartphone to score more than 40,000 on the site. Some other info that was leaked out was the fact that the Vivo xShot comes packing a Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC quad-core processor which is backed up by 3GB of RAM. There’ll be 32GB of on-board storage, no word yet on if that’s expandable via micro SD, and with this being a camera orientated photo, we can expect to see a xenon flash over an LED one.
