While Polaroid is struggling to survive in a world where the smartphone has become not just a personal computer that sits in the palm of your hand and has phone functionality, but it is also a very good replacement for the digital compact cameras.

Today, Polaroid announces a 5 inch Android smartphone that they call PolaSma (Polaroid Smartphone, not a very inspiring name is it?) which targets teenagers with its colorful housing.

Polasma packs a 5″ IPS LCD (960 x 540) display, it is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of ROM (internal storage).

Other specs include 8MP/2MP cameras, microSD slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFI b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, a 1650 mAh battery and Android 4.2 JellyBean OS.

Polaroid’s PolaSma will be available in three colours: cherry pink (Polaroid 10B-KC), blueberry blue (Polaroid 10B-KB) and lemon yellow (Polaroid 10B-KL).
