The monthly Android platform distribution numbers for March are out, the figures show a steady gain for KitKat while all Jelly Bean versions combined continued to dominate the market.
The chocolate flavoured version of Android managed to grab 2.5% of the total pie, a slight increase over last month’s figure of 1.8%. Android Jelly Bean (4.1-4.3) clocked in at 62%, a rise of 1.3% from last month’s 60.7%.
Gingerbread, now only a shadow of its former self, dropped from 20.0% to 19% while Ice Cream Sandwich slipped to 15.2%. Legacy versions of the platform, such as Froyo now holds on to a mere 1.2%, a figure which will likely drop a percent in a few week’s time.
More devices are expected to jump onto the KitKat bandwagon in the coming months so we’ll hopefully see its share break the 5% ceiling.
