If you’re an HTC One user who’s been eagerly awaiting the launch on Android 4.4 KitKat on your device then you’re not going to like reading this, HTC has confirmed that the OTA update has ran into a few technical issues in the U.K. so they’ve decided to pull the update all together until they iron out the kinks.
HTC released an official statement saying; “We are aware that a limited number of HTC users are experiencing difficulties with the KitKat update. As a result, all FOTA updates have been temporarily suspended. HTC is committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience and we are working hard to resolve the issue quickly.”
Some users decided to delve a little deeper and found info on HTC’s Software update pages stating that the current update was now in the “integration” stage. This is usually the stage where a manufacturer puts their UI over the Android operating system, so, if you’ve got the Google Play edition HTC One, you’ll be sitting smirking, with KitKat 4.4.2 and smoking a cigar (Ok, not the last part, but it sounded cool)
HTC are expected to release their update to 2013’s HTC One on March 25th, but the length it takes to upgrade to the latest version of Android may deter some users from staying with HTC.
Does this affect your decision? or will you upgrade to HTC’s new flagship regardless, let us know below or on Twitter
