There’s been various sources claiming over the last few weeks that Samsung would launch two different variants of the Galaxy S5. Some have claimed there would be a version which came encased in a metal chassis and one which would come in a cheaper polycarbonate, much like the distinction between the iPhone 5s and 5c.
This rumour is suggesting that there will be two different variants but the distinction will be the screen resolution with the more premium model having a resolution of 2560 x 1140 and the presumably cheaper model having one of 1920 x 1080 which is the same as last year’s S5.
Speculation has been created recently with a spigen Galaxy S5 case showing up on Amazon, with it listed as the Galaxy S5 prime although some people have been quick to point out that the images shown look suspicious and aren’t consistent, some showing a physical home button and some not. If the naming is to believed then the moniker “Prime” certainly suggests that the improvements won’t be in screen resolution alone and that the higher end device will have many advantages over its cheaper brother.
Luckily it’s only a few days until Samsung officially announce the S5 at this year’s Mobile World Congress, let us know what you think of this latest rumour in the comments and on twitter.
