Mark your calenders, it’s time to experience one of the greatest Samsung Galaxy event of this year! The company has just announced this year’s first ‘Unpacked Episode 1’ event scheduled to take place on Monday, February 24 in Barcelona, which also happens to be the opening day of Mobile World Congress 2014.

It’s a no brainer that Samsung will unveil the fifth flagship smartphone in the Galaxy S lineup later this month. It really couldn’t be anything other than the Galaxy S5 judging from their poster with the ‘5’ which is pretty much self explanatory.

Nothing is known about the spec sheet but rumor says that we’re likely looking at a smartphone packing a 2,560×1,440 ultra high-resolution AMOLED display backed by Samsung’s new Exynos SoC based on the AArch64 architecture. We also expect a RAM bump and a beefier battery along with Android KitKat.

It is currently unknown if the Samsung Galaxy S5 (or a variant) would sport a ‘premium’ design, possibly a metal finish but it’s clear that the South Korean company wants to add a touch of uniqueness to its products. – “For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, it’s about the display and the feel of the cover” said VP Lee Young-hee in an interview with Bloomberg News last month.

Invites have already been sent to respective parties and the event will begin at 8PM (CET). Samsung however says the gates will open from 6.30PM for the attendees. As for us all, the action will be streamed via YouTube as always so expect something big!
