Hot off the heels of their Taiwan press release yesterday, HTC just hosted another, this time in London. The manufacturers of the hugely popular HTC One smartphone had some pretty exciting news, which was also a UK first for the company.
In their press release, HTC announced that the new One will have dual sim capabilities, among other new additions. The sim tray will be housed underneath a removable back cover, something the original HTC One didn’t possess.
The ability to have 2 sims installed simultaneously isn’t the only advantageous part of the decision to include a removable back on the device, it also gives users the added bonus of expanding HTC One Dual SIM memory via a microSD card slot, something else that was amiss on the original HTC one.
The news will be welcomed by users who want to run their device on two separate phone numbers or two separate networks. This is specifically aimed at customers who use their smartphones for business and want to separate their work lives from their personal ones and having two different phone numbers housed in one device is a great way to do so.
Peter Frolund, HTC’s General Manager in the UK had this to say on the release “HTC is changing the premium mobile market, this is the first time we have released a dual SIM version of one of our premium handsets in the UK. By bringing business and pleasure together in the best designed handset in the market, we’re creating a new approach and one that we believe will appeal to businesses and their employees alike.”
This is a great way for HTC to establish themselves into the Business and Enterprise sector and hopefully means we’ll see a lot more product launches in the UK and beyond.
