Samsung has always been keen to update their top-tier flagship devices to the latest Android flavor, and it looks that the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will be in first line to receive the chocolate flavored Android 4.4 KitKat in January 2014!
Gone are the long delays and erratic update schemes we saw years ago. The current flagship Samsung products are set to receive the update in two month’s time while their predecessors (Galaxy S3 & Note 2) are slated to be upgraded in March-April.
This information is in no way a official confirmation but that’s what an internal leaked document states. Users using the previous flagship generation can finally rejoice, granted Samsung does it right this time. – After all, the company’s commitment to deliver quality upgrades suffered a hit after the Android 4.2 firmware debacle. It however appears that the Galaxy S3 will once again skip a major Android version and directly jump on the KitKat bandwagon.
We have yet to see how the whole TouchWiz framework shall evolve on Android 4.4 KitKat but we’re pretty sure that the South Korean giant will revamp it with a less resource heavy launcher. There’s also a possibility that TouchWiz gets a whole facelift and a new UI matching KitKat’s aesthetics.
