Hugo Barra leaves Android

After the departure of Andy Rubin one of the founding father of Android operating system, back in March (2013), another important executive, Hugo Barra (VP of Product and Management for Android) is also jumping off the boat to join Chinese phone maker Xiaomi.

In a post on his Google+ profile, Mr Barra said that he is leaving Android project to join Xiaomi as the Vice President of Xiaomi Global.

These two important departures coming less than 6 months away from one another, raises concern within the Android community. Hugo Barra joined Google Inc. in 2008, after working for Nuance, a speech technology based company (Siri).

Google already confirmed Barra’s departure, however they didnt comment on who will be replacing him as the Vice President of Product and Management for Android. An official announcement may come in the following couple of weeks.
