Oppo is back with yet another high-end phone today, the Oppo R819 has a great reduction in its overall body size measuring just 7.3mm in thickness perhaps the second slimmest phone after the Huawei Ascend P6 smartphone, at least until Vivo X3 gets out. Having the fact that the Ascend P6 weighs 120grams, it’s without a doubt that the Oppo R819 is the lightest smartphone with a feather weight of just 110grams.This model is seen as a follow up to the earlier model the Oppo Find 5 that was well reviewed by US customers though not as high-end as its predecessor.
Right into the specs, the device comes with a 4.7-inch, 720p display (1280 x 720) with 312ppi pixel density, quad-core 1.2GHz MT6589 processor, 1GB of RAM, Connectivity 800.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and PowerVR SGX544 GPU. It will be powered by a 2,000mAh battery and an inbuilt 16GB of non-expandable memory. The specs wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the capture devices as the Oppo R819 comes with a 2 megapixel Wide angle front facing camera and a Sony Exmor 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. Oppo R819 also provides two ROMs for the phone, a stock Android 4.2.1 ROM and a customized Color ROM.
The Oppo breaks the norm of buying the phone pre-installed version-software and now all one has to do is have the choice to choose their own software. There is a somewhat simple pre-loading process available to convert the phone to stock Android. What is isn’t clear however, is whether the smartphone will be shipped outside the Chinese market into the US market as it had done with the Find 5. One thing is clear however and that is the fact that the Oppo R819 will ship early September with the pre-orders expected to go live soon.
