Sony isn’t quite perfect at delivering major Android updates in a timely fashion judging from the late Xperia S updates and the fact that the Xperia Z was launched with a dated version of Android. Well they have their reasons. It happens that the Xperia Ion quite unexpectedly received it’s first taste of Jelly Bean. Better late than never!
The former flagship was originally launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread onboard, an ICS upgrade was quickly issued four months later. – The Snapdragon S3-powered smartphone is now ready to get the Jelly Bean treatment. Sure its not the 4.2.2 flavor but users should contempt themselves with the former release (4.1.2).
The update is already live in certain regions for the LT28, we expect it to hit both the HSPA & LTE variants in few days, users should check for newer firmware releases with the aid of Sony’s PC Companion or via OTA.
