You may not have heard about the Chinese maker Umeox but neither have I, but It happens to be the company behind the insanely thinnest Android handset –5.6mm of pure awesomeness, yes that’s right! The Umeox X5 will one hell of an Android powerhouse at this thickness according to this leaked prototype.
‘World thinnest smartphone’ was a title disputed by several smartphone manufacturers including Huawei with their 6.2mm Ascend P6 which was supposed to be the thinnest smartphone a while ago. Umeox snatched the title in the blink of an eye with their latest product, well before the Ascend P6 even went official!
The Umeox X5 hasn’t been launched at the time of this writing but it’ll hit Chinese shelves in July, there was however no mention about an international release.
Not much is known about its specification sheet but we suspect a quad-core offering from MediaTek, more likely a MT6589 SoC ticking at 1.5GHz powering Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with probably 16 or 32GB of internal storage. The Umeox X5 will span across just 118 x 60 x 5.6 mm.
We can’t honestly expect a high capacity battery with such ridiculously thin dimensions but almost everything is possible with Chinese manufacturers, they’re surely come with some crazy enough battery packing closely squeezed high density cells.
If you think that your current smartphone is think then you may need to seriously think again!
