Galaxy Ace 2 users (including me) are still waiting for the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update. It appears that we’ll have to have to hold our breaths a little longer. As you may already know a lot of Android websites erroneously reported that the Galaxy Ace 2 received the long awaited update days ago. But that wasn’t quite the case since the only builds made available consisted of a carrier firmware and another unbranded Chinese firmware that was reportedly causing issues on European Ace 2 devices.
Samsung Ukraine nows confirms that both Ace 2 (GT-I8160) & S Advance (GT-I9070) will receive the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 treatment next month on the 22nd & 24th of May as seen below. Both handsets were supposed to have both their updates by the end of December last year but Samsung postponed the roll-out to Q1 2013 (around February-March) but it was then pushed to a later date which roughly corresponded to late March-early April as previously confirmed by Samsung Ukraine.
The update appears to have shelved off been again! The reason behind this may be purely technical, i.e some unexpected problems with the NovaThor ST-u8500 SoC sources or Samsung screwed up something with their builds. Either way, we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed, the jar backs of beans is still a month away! (If not delayed again)
