The Next Big Thing is only days away (March 14th) but we’re already seeing a bunch of rumors and unofficial specifications & what was recently uncovered may well be the final specifications.
In short the Galaxy SIV will be the first device to feature a full 1080P Samsung OLED 4.99-inch (12.6cm) display. Along that comes a beefier Exynos 5 variant also know as Exynos 5 Octa/Exynos 5410 SoC with a 4+4 configuration clocking at 1.8GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM.
What’s shocking is that Samsung ditched their in-house Mali GPU for the speedier PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU (The number of GPU cores is unknown), this move may be characterized by Samsung willing to compete with other GPUs like the Tegra 4, Adreno 330 and others. Development issues may have also pushed Samsung way towards Imagination Technologies since their GPUs have a perfect thermal-performance-efficiency balance.
It will sport a 13MP shooter (technical details are unknown to this date), Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box & will retain the traditional back, menu and home button found on virtually all Samsung devices. The Galaxy SIV will natively support a wild band of radio frequencies including the U.S LTE bands, it appears that Samsung has upgraded the built-in Exynos modem, it will now support GSM/WCDMA/LTE networks without any need for carrier-specific variants. The single international version will be known as GT-i9500.
These details might not be a lot but we’re already seeing that Samsung is indeed prepping a monster device, a beast so powerful that it’ll outclass each and every competitor smartphone.
