A beta/pre-release Android 4.2.1 firmware update for the popular Galaxy S3 (i9300) has been leaked and demoed on YouTube. This gives us a clue that Samsung may potentially release an update in the coming months.
Current flagship Samsung devices all run Android 4.2.1 as of the 2013, that includes the Galaxy SII, SIII, Note I, Note II and several other devices like the SIII Mini. All those devices will sooner or later receive the Android 4.2.1 update. This I9300XXUFMB3 firmware based on JOP40D features the same exact old Kernel 3.0.31 but has several improvements as noted by SamMobile:
– Improved Ripple effect on Lockscreen
– New Android 4.2.1 Lockscreen with widgets
– Daydream (Settings>Display)
– New Additions in Notification Center
– Notifications are more actionable
– Voice Command
Users can also grab the bits and flash them but care is advised as there may be major bugs in this current leaked experimental firmware.
