LG Electronics has announced that it has sold over 1 million LG Optimus G smartphones world-wide in roughly 4 months since the flagship device has been launched last year. The amount of units sold is a pleasant surprise for the second biggest mobile maker in Korea, especially because the 4.7 inch smartphone has been released in four countries: South Korea Japan, Canada and the United States.
LG plans to release the device in more markets such as China (which is one of the worlds biggest) and in several European countries this quarter. According to an LG spokesperson in the third quarter of 2012, the company has sold a record of 7 million smartphones globally, breaking its previous 6.2 million record.
Furthermore the South Korean vendor is about to introduce an upgraded version of the Optimus G likely during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new device dubbed Optimus G Pro details surfaced earlier this morning.
