As the Nvidia’s Tegra 4 made the headlines this week at CES 2013, we also heard an announcement from the popular Chinese chip manufacturer, Rockchip. They launched the RK3188 28nm HKMG Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9.
Rockchip is launching their next generation 28nm High-K Metal Gate processor on the ARM Cortex-A9 with quad-core Mali-400. This is expected to hit the markets in the next few months. They promise that this architecture will offer less power consumption and an enhanced performance.
This chip will feature in mid-range tablets. The older RockChip RK3066 dual-core chip is present in the recently launched Videocon VT10 and Spice Stellar Pad Mi-1010 tablets. So we are expecting some tablets with this RK3188 quad-core chip at the end of this year.
