Exposed for the first time back in late October in Beijing, China during a Huawei conference — Ascend D2 is a large 5 inch Android device that’s due for early next year. We will be seeing this fellow exhibited at CES 2013 in Las Vegas just as we saw the Ascend P1 smartphone series at this year CES 2012.
About a month after Huawei Ascend D2 got exposed to the public its key hardware specs appeared on GLBenchmark website, culminating with more exposure this month first on TENAA website and in a press render.
Today the Ascend D2 smiled once more for the camera just before CES 2013. The phone packs an extra-large 5 inch Full HD display, powered by Huawei’s K3V2 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, GB of RAM, 13MP camera on the back (captures video at 1080p), 1.3MP in front and 2900 mAh built-in battery. D2 weighs in at 170 grams, measuring 140 × 71 × 9.9 mm and it runs Android 4.1.1.
According to our source there will be three different models of the D2 — Huawei Ascend D2-2012, Huawei Ascend D2-0082 and Huawei Ascend D2-5000 (likely to comply with local Asian, European and US networks). In terms of pricing Ascend D2 will be available for sale at 3299 yuan (about $525 USD).
