Amazon entered the Android league with its Kindle Fire tablet in 2011, which proved to be a great success. Merely a year after, its successors, the Kindle Fire HD 7 and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 were released, both being somewhat successful. But that’s not the only subject related to Amazon that has been spoken about. The most interesting story is the one about the possible Amazon smartphone, which has been rumored several times, and like that wasn’t enough, today we hear more rumors regarding it.
The new rumors come from Taiwan Economic News (cheers Android Authority for bringing up the news!), saying that Foxconn was ordered to produce 5 million Amazon smartphones for 2013. The price of the units varies from $100 to $200, which only tells us half of the story. Knowing Amazon, it should be appropriately priced, somewhere around $250-$300 (hey, they must make some profit, right?).
Taiwan Economic News states that the device would be announced somewhere between Q2-Q3 2013, which is quite some time from now. Anyway, we feel enthusiastic about this Amazon smartphone, and don’t doubt it will be a great one.
