Motorola RAZR i (XT890) receives maintenance update in Europe (UK, Germany and France)

Motorola Europe has started rolling out this week a new software update 7 8.7.1I-110_IFW-39 (8.7.1I-110_IFW-DE-40 in some markets) to the edge-to-edge RAZR i (XT890) smartphone with Intel processor. The update is available OTA (over the air) on devices currently using software version 8.7.1I-110_IFW-31 and 8.7.1I-110_IFW-DE-32.

The new firmware is still Ice Cream Sandwich (JellyBean update later on), brings updates to pre-installed applications and several fixes and enhancements:

Improved Camera 
  • Option added for the external camera button to require a ‘long press’ to wake the phone which will help avoid false presses for some users.
  • Improved HDR (High Dynamic Range) help messages.
  • Added Exif GPS time information to photos.
Google™ security updates Ø The latest Google security updates have been applied.
Voice call and data throughput improvements
  • Diversity antenna is turned on: helps to prevent dropped calls and improve data throughput in medium to poor coverage areas.
  • Voice call audio setup time improvements: helps to minimise any missed audio at the start of a call.
Speed improvements
  • Java engine speed improvements in browser (measured using Quadrant and SunSpider benchmark data points).
Pre-installed Google applications
  • Pre-installed Google applications will be updated to the latest versions.
  • Google Chrome installed.
