Fresh rumors come up, now Google staff is in Asia with the launch of the Nexus 7 in Japan and Korea. It seems that some of the staff can’t hold their breath.
Earlier this month, PocketDroid wrote about *that-unknwon-HTC-5-device* and other possibilities to be the Next Nexus. Now the rumor tells Google is not only updating the Nexus 7, but also considering a $99 Nexus tablet, scheduled for this fall, in order to be able to compete with Apple’s 7 inch iPad (another rumored device).
Well, let’s take a look at that. The Galaxy Nexus has been a year now. It’s likely Google will come up with a new Nexus – won’t that be a phone, supposedly? Although there are strong rumors about Google releasing multiple Nexus devices, it’s unlikely a new tablet will be among them.
What is the benefit of introducing a downgraded Nexus 7 to compete with the not-yet-released 7 inch iPad? I can’t figure that out. The iPad is a strong brand by now, reigning for years already. The 7 inch iPad will probably be able to rely on that, being a real wanna-have. The Nexus 7 is a wonderful device, but will it be able to carry a smaller brother already? One that has to compete with an iPad? I doubt.
Considering rumors, they are mostly fed by desire and expectation: what do I want it to be? Using many ‘mights’ and ‘coulds’, we’ll just have to wait for the rumors to come true, keeping our eyes and ears opened wide.
