Google Buys Makers of Snapseed, Wants to Compete With Instagram

Jealous of Facebook’s connection with Instagram Google went out and bought German Nik Software, the people who made Snapseed application for iOS.

Snapseed is similar in function to Instagram, providing easy to use photography filters and image manipulation options. While Nik Software makes other photography related apps, Snapseed is what Google really wanted and the Snapseed team has already moved to Mountain View to work directly with Google+. In my experience, Google+ already has a vibrant photography community, this should broaden that to a wider audience. While No Snapseed Android app is out yet, we should be seeing it soon.
