HP’s potential re-entry in the smartphone industry might be marked with their new handset, dubbed as the “HP Bender”. HP’s previous attempt with WebOS ultimately failed in the recent years and an Android strategy might prove to be fruitful if they produce a quality device. Until recently HP had no plans but their CEO but Meg Whitman confirmed that they are fully committed to bring back to life their smartphone division with new plans to enter the smartphone industry.
As preliminary specifications the HP Bender packs a MSM8960 Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 1RAM of RAM accompanied by the Adreno 225 GPU. The display has a native resolution of 1366 x 720 pixels. The Android version, which the leaked device boots is Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich although we might see Jelly Bean in the final version.
If that turns out to be their ‘future plan’ then we will eventually see HP added as an additional Android OEM added to the list.
