BREAKING: The US Jury finds Samsung guilty orders to pay $1.05 billion in damages in the Samsung vs Apple case

In federal court in San Jose, California just minutes ago, in the case Apple Inc. versus Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., 11- cv-01846, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (San Jose), the jury finds Samsung guilty of infringing 6 out of 7 patents for mobile devices.

The verdict looks really bad for Samsung as the jury finds it guilty of infringing on both Apple hardware and software patents such as ‘rubber band’ and ‘pinch to zoom,’ the only good news for Samsung is that the GALAXY Tab is not infringing on any of Apple iPad patent design.  The court finds Apple not guilty awarding zero dollars in damages to Samsung.

We do not doubt that Samsung Electronics will appeal against this ruling, which means the war will continue in the following months if not years. However a precedent has been set here, giving Apple a good leverage on its offensive to protect its intellectual properties.
