The Dolphin team just released a beta version of their popular smartphone browser. The new beta version boasts a revamped engine which brings along some major improvements especially when it comes to the rendering process.
The beta version not only successfully passes Ringmark’s Ring 1 test suite but also dwarfs both the native Android browser & Chrome.
Ringmark is a test suite developed by Facebook which features more than 400 individual tests to assess the browser. Those tests are based on the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C) specifications. The test checks whether the browser complies those standards and judges how good a mobile browser can render specific mobile content depending on how much rings are passed.
Dolphin, an active member of the W3C, is leading mobile browser innovation within this community of innovators and leaders who define the Web.
Dolphin Browser Beta’s rendering is claimed to be:
- 5 – 10X faster than the default Android browser
- 100% faster than Chrome (at times)
- Initially scored over 450 when tested on HTML5test.com. (HTML5test.com is an industry respected tool for testing a browser’s support of HTML5)
