Now that’s sad. After the bad news last week about the ICS update for the Desire HD, now we hear something similar. Another announced update got cancelled. This time it’s not a HTC smartphone we’re talking about, but rather a member of the LG Optimus family – the Optimus 2X. LG Canada broke the news, by telling this:
“The Optimus 2X will not be receiving the ICS upgrade. The original upgrade announcement was a general statement issued from HQ.”
If you remember, back in November last year, LG promised the ICS update for the first dual-core smartphone, and early this year stated that the update will be arriving in Q3 or Q4 this year. We don’t know what exactly made them cancel the update, but it certainly won’t please the users of the device. The Optimus 2X is still a capable device, and deserves a good update treatment. This is not how a former flagship should be treated, but oh well… The only good thing is the LG Optimus 2X has a good developer community over its back, so even without the official update, you could be running the latest and greatest version of Android whenever you want.
